The Caribbean region is made up of over seven thousand islands, reefs and clays, so which one do you choose for your perfect
Caribbean holiday?
Worry no more, we have put together five fantastic Caribbean destinations that each offer a unique holiday experience. All you have to do is pick which one is right for you.
St Lucia
St Lucia is a beautiful volcanic island situated in the eastern Caribbean. The most mountainous of any other Caribbean island, St Lucia is home to the Pitons, two volcanic plugs on the south western coast in Piton Bay, an area designated a World Heritage Site.
St Lucia features some lively festivals, including La Rose and La Maguerite and in the month of July the island comes alive with the carnival festivities.
The best time to visit the island is during the dry season, which falls between the months of January to April, when the tropical weather makes for some truly spectacular views over the lush, mountainous region.
There are plenty of fantastic hotels to choose from on the island, from affordable hideaways like the
Almond Morgan Bay to the unbridled luxury of the
Ladera Resort with its stunning views of the Piton peaks.
Barbados
Barbados, home to many of the rich and famous, is a well developed tourist hotspot featuring some truly world class resorts, namely the
Fairmont Royal Pavilion Hotel on the beautifully calm “Platinum” coast.
With lively nightlife, beautiful beaches, superb watersports and intriguing museums, Barbados has much to offer, and is perfect for those seeking a diverse destination.
Tobago
Tobago is in complete contrast with Barbados, a beautiful hideaway to the south of Barbados, Tobago is an area of outstanding natural beauty, with the lush vegetation of the tropical rainforest to the pristine coral reefs, the island is a haven for nature lovers.
The beaches on the island of Tobago are something else and you are never far from the sea. Enjoy the beautiful waters and relax on miles of sandy coastlines.
St Kitts
St Kitts and Nevis forms the smallest nation in the Americas, with a population of just 44,000, but offers much to do for nature lovers and budding historians alike, or for those who simply want to find a perfect Caribbean hideaway.
Admiral Nelson met and married Frances Nisbet on Nevis when he was stationed in the Caribbean in the late 1700s. Brimstone Hill Fortress National Park on St Kitts, the larger of the two islands, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the biggest fort in the east Caribbean. http://whc.unesco.org/en/list/910
